Julie Anand is a desert-loving artist and educator. She is currently Associate Professor in the School of Art at Arizona State University. Her projects, informed by a background in ecology and geology, often explore material culture, body/land relations and issues of interdependency.
Parallel to her solo work, Anand sustains a collaborative art practice with her partner Damon Sauer (2circles.org). Their current project has appeared in Wired, Harper’s, National Geographic, and Hyperallergic. Ground Truth was exhibited at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, DC and is held in the collections of the Center for Art + Environment at the Nevada Museum of Art as well as the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
